My money – for what it’s worth – is on Mikhael Subotzky and Patrick Waterhouse for their fantastic work around ‘Ponte City’ a high rise block in Johannesburg designed at the height of apartheid as an opulent living space for the rich that then fell into decay and became to represent everything that was wrong with the city.
